COVID Rules Not Yet to Change for the NHS
We're Platinum!
Following a GP accreditation panel, Rowden Medical Practice has officially achieved the platinum carers award 😊
COVID-19 Spring Booster Vaccine
Since 2020, the COVID-19 vaccine has been our most important protection against the virus, reducing the risk of it being spread and limiting the damage it does to our bodies.
February this year, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advised a spring dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for adults aged 75 years and over, residents in care homes for older adults and individuals aged 12 years and over who have a weakened immune system.
The NHS will contact those who are eligible to make a spring booster appointment, so people should wait until they hear from the NHS. The NHS will prioritise those whose clinical need is greatest, as it has throughout, starting with those who have had a bigger gap since their last dose. Everyone who is eligible will be offered a top up within six months.
COVID Certificates
People in England who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can use the NHS COVID Pass to demonstrate their COVID-19 status.
If your child is aged 5 or over, you can get an NHS COVID Pass. For further information, please see this link: Digital COVID Pass. Please be aware that you cannot sign up for the NHSapp if you are under 16 years of age.
A full course is currently two doses of the Moderna, AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccine, or one dose of the Janssen single-dose vaccine. Vaccine status will be available through the NHS COVID Pass service from:
- the NHS App which you can download from app stores
- the NHS website
- 119 - by requesting a paper letter
You will need to register to use the online services, if you have not already. It may take more than a week for your identity to be checked and verified.
If you cannot access the online services, and you have had both doses of the vaccine, you can request a paper letter from the NHS by calling 119. Only call 119 if you are due to travel outside the UK in the near future and have had your second dose (or one dose of the Janssen single-dose vaccine) more than 5 working days ago. It may take up to 5 working days for the letter to arrive.
This practice is not able to provide you with a letter that shows your COVID-19 vaccination status. Please do not contact the practice about your COVID-19 vaccination status unless you have been advised to by the 119 service.
When you're planning your travel, you should check the latest information on demonstrating your COVID-19 status when travelling abroad on the gov.uk website. Make sure there is enough time to get proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status before you are due to travel.
NHSApp - COVID Booster
Please be aware that the COVID vaccination boosters are now available in the NHSApp.
If you need any further information, please see this page: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/
If you notice any issues with any of the COVID vaccinations in the NHSapp, please contact 119 for assistance and ask to speak to the Vaccination Resolution Service.
We are unable to assist with COVID vaccinations given overseas. There is a national NHS service that can assist with this, please see the link below for more information: Tell the NHS about coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations you've had abroad - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
If you no longer wish to receive any invitations from the national invitation for COVID vaccines, there is a new service to opt out of this. Please see this link below for further information: Choose your coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination invitation preference - NHS (www.nhs.uk) or alternatively, please call 119 for assistance.

"Modern general practice with traditional values"
The practice was established in 1830 at the Corner House in the Market Place in Chippenham and nearly 200 years later eight partners and four salaried GPs work from the purpose-built premises forming Rowden Surgery.
We look after over 17,500 patients within our catchment area and we pride ourselves on our doctor/patient relationships and inclusivity. We have fought very hard to maintain our Personal List system. This means that every patient and family, has a named doctor from the moment of their registration who is responsible for co-ordinating their care. We believe that continuity of a doctor is key to good practice and delivering a high quality personal consultation remains the cornerstone of our care.
Rowden Surgery lies adjacent to Chippenham Community Hospital and provides an attractive and effective environment for patients and staff. All facilities for our patients are at ground level with easy access including a disability friendly car park.
