Clinical research is exciting and stimulating for both patients and the research team. It provides an opportunity to be involved in cutting edge medicine and the development of future treatments. The majority of our studies involve new medications in their final stages of development, allowing patients to benefit from superior treatments which are not otherwise currently available e.g. the latest cholesterol lowering medications for people with heart disease, new inhalers for asthmatics and COPD Patients and new medication options for diabetic patients.
All research carried out at the Practice is subject to ethical standards that promote respect for our patients and protect their health and rights.
Our Current Trials
We always have lots of different Clinical Trials ranging across several specialities.
Trials can be anything from flu to respiritary, pain to diabetes. Patients are seen here at the surgery during the trial and will follow a preagreed schedule. Many patients benefit from these trails and access many medication before they are available to the public.
Currently our team are researching:
- New medicines for Diabetes
- New medicines for lowering Cholesterol
- The impact of Chronic Kidney Disease
- How we treat COVID-19
These are often changing, but patients matching specific criteria will be invited for a screening and will be asked to get involved.
We often put signs up within the surgery, so keep an eye out for posters
